Investigating the Potential of Implantable Grade PEEK as a Bearing Material Against Various Counterfaces
J. Devine, A. Unsworth and S.C. Scholes Multi-directional pin-on plate testing of PEEK-based materials against polymeric, ceramic and metal counterfaces to identify successful wear couples. Results demonstrate that PEEK materials can offer significantly lower wear factors than UHMWPE against cobalt chrome and lower wear factors than high carbon CoCrMo bearing against itself.
